How our shower filter removes chlorine?

The Fettle Filter is made up of 15 key stages, designed to stop chemicals like chlorine in its tracks. Whilst each stage plays its own role in the filtering process. There a two stages that are crucial to chlorine removal are:

KDF 55 Filtration Technology: This high-purity copper-zinc alloy neutralises chlorine through a chemical redox (reduction-oxidation) reaction. When this occurs, chlorine is converted into harmless, water-soluble chloride ions, effectively removing it from your shower water.

Vitamin C Infusion: The filter uses Vitamin C to neutralise chlorine. This natural antioxidant chemically reacts with chlorine, breaking it down and rendering it harmless. The bonus is this method is particularly gentle on your skin and hair providing additional nourishing benefits.

We put our shower filter to the test to see how effective it was at removing chlorine.

We dropped chlorine tablets into water captured from the same shower, both with and without our chlorine shower water filter.

As you can clearly see, the Fettle Filter was effective at removing up to 95% of chlorine from the shower water.

Do chlorine shower filters really work?

Yes chlorine shower filters really do work! You can see from the tests we ran above the the Fettle Effect Shower Filter removes up to 95% of chlorine from shower water. That makes us one of the most effective shower filters at removing chlorine available in Australia.

Does chlorine contribute to hard water?

Chlorine does not directly contribute to hard water, as hard water is primarily caused by high levels of calcium and magnesium ions in your water.

It's worth noting though that chlorine is often added to water as a disinfectant to kill bacteria and make it safe for drinking. While it doesn’t officially make water “hard,” it can still have negative effects on skin, hair, and overall health which is why we recommend using our shower filter to remove chlorine.

Our Shower Filters are designed to perfectly fit 1/2-inch taps, the standard size for shower taps across Australia. If you're uncertain about installation, visit our 'Install' page. Do I need any tools to install the shower filter?

Generally, the answer is no, but there have been instances where the attachment point is extremely tight, challenging even the strongest hands. In such cases, using a wrench or pliers should effectively loosen it.
how long will the Fettle Effect shower filter last? And how will I know when it's time to replace it?

Typically, our Fettlers (users) experience optimal results by replacing their filters every 3 months (90 days). While filters may last longer, this depends on various factors like shower duration, daily shower frequency, and water temperature.
Will the filter affect my water pressure?

From all our testing so far we haven't experienced a reduction in water pressure
